Unbeatable Persons in IT industry

1) Tim Berners Lee - Founder of the World Wide Web.
2) Picture taken when microsoft was started. Not to mention the Boy in the Box, None other than Mr. Bill Gates.
3) Steve Woznaik(sitting) and Steve Jobs of APPLE Computers. He was three months late in filing a name for the business because he didn't get any better name for his new company. So one day he told to the staff: " If I'll not get better name by 5 o'clcok today, our company's name will be anything he likes..." So at 5 o'clcok nobody comeup with better name, and he was eating APPLE that time... So he keep the name of the company 'Apple Computers'.
4) Bill Hewlett(L) and Dave Packard(R) of HP. Behind them in the picture is the famous HP Garage. Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard tossed a coin to decide whether the company they founded would be called Hewlett-Packard or Packard-Hewlett. And the winner was NOT Bill... the winner was Dave.
5) Ken Thompson (L)and Dennis Ritchie(R) ,creators of UNIX. Dennis Ritchie improved on the B programming language and called it 'New B'. B was created by Ken Thompson as a revision of the Bon programming language (named after his wife Bonnie). He later called it C.
6) Larry Page(L) and Sergey Brin(R), founders of Google. Google was originally named 'Googol'. After founders (Stanford graduates) Sergey Brin and Larry Page presented their project to an angel investor... They received a cheque made out to 'Google' !... So they kept name as GOOGLE.
7) Gordon Moore(L) and Bob Noyce(R) ,founders of Intel. Bob Noyce and Gordon Moore wanted to name their new company ' Moore Noyce'. But that was already trademarked by a hotel chain... So they had to settle for an acronym of INTegrated ELectronics... INTEL.
8) Andreas Bechtolsheim , Bill Joy, Scott Mc Nealy and Vinod Khosla of SUN(StanfordUniversity Network) MicroSystems founded by four StanfordUniversity buddies. Andreas Bechtolsheim built a microcomputer. Vinod Khosla recruited him; Scott McNealy to manufacture computers based on it; and Bill Joy to develop a UNIX-based OS for the computer... SUN is the acronym for Stanford University Network.
9) Linus Torvalds of Linux Operating System Linus Torvalds originally used the Minix OS on his system which he replaced by his OS. Hence the working name was Linux (Linus' Minix). He thought the name to be too egotistical and planned to name it Freax (free + freak + x). His friend Ari Lemmk encouraged Linus to upload it to a network so it could be easily downloaded. Ari gave Linus a directory called linux on his FTP server, as he did not like the name Freax. Linus like that directory name and he kept the name of his new OS to LINUX.
10) Picture taken when INFY was started. This picture was found in the album of the clerk who took this picture... The picture was with that clerk only because it was his birthday and he just told everyone to stand together at one place to take a pic. He borrow a camera from his friend and as he can not tell any of his boss to take pic, so he took pic by himself... Even though it was his birthday.

What is for Dinner?

A man goes to his doctor and says, "I don't think mywife's hearing is as good as it used to be, what should I do?" The doctor replies, "Try this test to find out for sure. When your wife is in the kitchen doing dishes, stand fifteen feet behind her and ask her a question, if she doesn't respond keep moving closer, asking the question until she hears you."

The old man goes home and sees his wife preparing dinner. He stands fifteen feet behind her and says,"What's for dinner, honey?" He gets no response, so he moves to ten feet behind her and asks again. Still no response, so he moves to five feet. No answer. Finally he stands directly behind her and says, "Honey, what's for Supper?" She replies, "For the fourth time, I SAID CHICKEN, you deaf bastard!"

Whatz in H2O to drink it more?

Did you know that your body can survive for over ninety days without food, but four days without water? Our bodies are 70% water and in order to function properly, it is essential to receive the proper amount of water each day to stay hydrated and healthy.

The health benefits of drinking enough water are numerous and many cases, simply drinking more water is a better cure than any prescription drug! So what's holding you back? Drink more water!

Health Benefits

The benefits to drinking enough water are countless. In fact, before rushing out to get a prescription for the newest advertised drug, take a close look at your daily water intake. Simply drinking enough water could save you hundreds of dollars per year on expensive medications! Specifically, water assist your body with the following areas:

Arthritis
Arthritis can affect people young and old alike. In ages though, arthritis is a sign of lack of water in the painful joint.

Back/Neck
Having back or neck pain? Even though you might have perfect posture, your back may still ache due to lack of water in your spinal disks.

Diabetes
Adult-onset diabetes is the body's response to severe dehydration. Consuming a proper amount of water and salt during the early stages of adult-onset diabetes may be able to reverse the process before it becomes an autoimmune disease.

Headaches
Headaches are a sign that the blood vessels in your head are dialated more greater than normal. This dialation of the blood vessels can be caused by stress, hangovers, or allegic/dietary triggers. The severity of all these agents is increased by a lack of hydration.

Cure # 1: Water prevents and cures heartburn.
Heartburn is a signal of water shortage in the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract. It is a major thirst signal of the human body. The use of antacids or tablet medications in the treatment of this pain does not correct dehydration, and the body continues to suffer as a result of its water shortage.
Tragedy: Not recognizing heartburn as a sign of dehydration and treating it with antacids and pill medications will, in time, produce inflammation of the stomach and duodenum, hiatal hernia, ulceration, and eventually cancers in the gastrointestinal tract, including the liver and pancreas.

Cure # 2: Water prevents and cures arthritis.
Rheumatoid joint pain - arthritis - is a signal of water shortage in the painful joint. It can affect the young as well as the old. The use of pain-killers does not cure the problem, but exposes the person to further damage from pain medications. Intake of water and small amounts of salt will cure this problem.

Cure # 3: Water prevents and cures back pain.
Low back pain and ankylosing arthritis of the spine are signs of water shortage in the spinal column and discs - the water cushions that support the weight of the body. These conditions should be treated with increased water intake - not a commercial treatment, but a very effective one.
Tragedy: Not recognizing arthritis and low back pain as signs of dehydration in the joint cavities and treating them with pain-killers, manipulation, acupuncture, and eventually surgery will, in time, produce osteoarthritis when the cartilage cells in the joints have eventually all died. It will produce deformity of the spine. It will produce crippling deformities of the limbs. Pain medications have their own life-threatening complications.

Cure # 4: Water prevents and cures angina.
Heart pain - angina - is a sign of water shortage in the heart/lung axis. It should be treated with increased water intake until the patient is free of pain and independent of medications. Medical supervision is prudent. However, increased water intake is angina's cure.

Cure # 5: Water prevents and cures migraines.
Migraine headache is a sign of water need by the brain and the eyes. It will totally clear up if dehydration is prevented from establishing in the body. The type of dehydration that causes migraine might eventually cause inflammation of the back of the eye and possibly loss of eye sight.

Cure #6: Water prevents and cures colitis.
Colitis pain is a signal of water shortage in the large gut. It is associated with constipation because the large intestine constricts to squeeze the last drop of water from the excrements - thus the lack of water lubrication.
Tragedy: Not recognizing colitis pain as a sign of dehydration will cause persistent constipation. Later in life, it will cause fecal impacting: it can cause diverticulitis, hemorrhoids and polyps, and appreciably increases the possibility of developing cancer of the colon and rectum.

Cure # 7: Water and salt prevent and cure asthma.
Asthma, which also affects 14 million children and kills several thousand of them every year, is a complication of dehydration in the body. It is caused by the drought management programs of the body. In asthma free passage of air is obstructed so that water does not leave the body in the form of vapor - the winter steam. Increased water intake will prevent asthma attacks. Asthmatics need also to take more salt to break the mucus plugs in the lungs that obstruct the free flow of air in and out of the air sacs.
Tragedy: Not recognizing asthma as the indicator of dehydration in the body of a growing child not only will sentence many thousands of children to die every year, but will permit irreversible genetic damage to establish in the remaining 14 million asthmatic children.

Cure # 8: Water prevents and cures high blood pressure.
Hypertension is a state of adaptation of the body to a generalized drought, when there is not enough water to fill all the blood vessels that diffuse water into vital cells. As part of the mechanism of reverse osmosis, when water from the blood serum is filtered and injected into important cells through minute holes in their membranes, extra pressure is needed for the "injection process." Just as we inject I.V. "water" in hospitals, so the body injects water into tens of trillions of cells all at the same time. Water and some salt intake will bring blood pressure back to normal!
Tragedy: Not recognizing hypertension as one of the major indicators of dehydration in the human body, and treating it with diuretics that further dehydrate the body will, in time, cause blockage by cholesterol of the heart arteries and the arteries that go to the brain. It will cause heart attacks and small or massive strokes that paralyze. It will eventually cause kidney disease. It will cause brain damage and neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease.

Cure # 9: Water prevents and cures early adult-onset diabetes.
Adult-onset diabetes is another adaptive state to severe dehydration of the human body. To have adequate water in circulation and for the brain's priority water needs, the release of insulin is inhibited to prevent insulin from pushing water into all body cells. In diabetes, only some cells get survival rations of water. Water and some salt will reverse adult-onset diabetes in its early stages.
Tragedy: Not recognizing adult-onset diabetes as a complication of dehydration will, in time, cause massive damage to the blood vessels all over the body. It will cause eventual loss of the toes, feet and legs from gangrene. It will cause eye damage, even blindness.

Cure # 10: Water lowers blood cholesterol.
High cholesterol levels are an indicator of early drought management by the body. Cholesterol is a clay-like material that is poured in the gaps of some cell membranes to safeguard them against losing their vital water content to the osmotically more powerful blood circulating in their vicinity. Cholesterol, apart from being used to manufacture nerve cell membranes and hormones, is also used as a "shield" against water taxation of other vital cells that would normally exchange water through their cell membranes.

Cure # 11: Water cures depression, loss of libido, chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy.
These conditions are caused by prolonged chronic dehydration. They will clear up once the body becomes well and regularly hydrated. In these conditions, exercising one's muscles should be part of the treatment program.

That is Intelligence

A young boy is getting his hair cut in a barber shop and the barber whispers to his waiting Customer, "This is the dumbest kid in the world. Watch while I prove it to you."

The barber puts a five rupee coin in one hand and two one rupee coins(1+1=2) in the other, then shows it over to the boy and asks, "Which do you want, son?"

The boy takes the two one rupee coins and leaves after he got his hair cut. "What did I tell you?" said the barber. "That kid never learns!"

Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream store.
"Hey, son! May I ask you a question?
Why did you take two one rupee coins instead of five rupee coin?"

The boy licked his cone and replied,
"Because THE DAY I TAKE THE FIVE RUPEE COIN, THE GAME IS OVER

How to be efficient at work?

The secret is simple – make a list and do the hardest thing first. Then comes the hard part: Doing it NOW is the time for efficiency. February is almost upon us and it’s time to perk up, make things happen, and generally whizz through your work at such a pace that, with a bit of luck, you’ll be told you can knock off early. So, what’s the secret of becoming a workplace dynamo? The first rule of efficient working is simple:

Make a list. That’s right, a list. It might not sound the kind of revolutionary idea that will launch your career into the stratosphere. It might even seem like the kind of thing your grandma would tell you to do. But, give it a chance. Sometimes, the old stuff really works.

At the very least, you’ll be able to get rid of all those scrawled Post-it notes, overdue Outlook reminders and nagging suspicions in the back of your mind about things you’ve been meaning to do since September. After a while, it might feel like you’re writing the longest list in the world, but don’t fret. It’ll end. As long as you hold your nerve and keep going, you’ll be well on the way to rule two, which is: Do the hardest thing first.

With rule two, you work out what the knottiest, thorniest challenge on your list is, and then do it. First thing on Monday morning, if at all possible. You’ll feel so much better for it, you see. Once you’ve got the Hardest Thing out of the way, there’ll be no more guilt, no more procrastination, and you can spend the rest of your time doing work you actually quite enjoy.

The problem with the Hardest Thing, though, is that it’s ... erm ... hard. Square up to the challenge and you immediately begin to remember all the little reasons why you’d been putting it off since September.

The Hardest Thing always involves nasty, difficult tasks like asking a favour of a colleague you don’t get on with, ’fessing up to a mistake you’ve made, or finding an invoice you’ve mislaid somewhere in that row of filing cabinets the size of a house. And it’s Monday morning, after all — not the time when bosses or prickly colleagues are going to be at their most receptive. Might it not be better to wait until the boss is on his way out of the office for a mini-vacation, or the colleague you don’t get on with is cresting the wave of cheerfulness that comes on Friday afternoon?

Maybe a few quick, easy-to-strike-offyour-list wins, like watering the plants or browsing the stationery catalogue for a new mouse mat, would be better ways to kickstart your working week? Before you know it, you’re straying from the straight and narrow of rule two, and the Hardest Thing still hasn’t been tackled.

Ah well. Maybe a bit of flexibility might even be a good thing. You’re trying to be efficient, after all, not get the Vatican to recognise you as a martyr. In any case, everybody knows that people who enjoy their jobs are more productive. So, whistle while you work, and ease yourself in gently.

You can put your list quietly away in a drawer, and the hideous hard thing will be ready when you are. After all, if you’ve managed to put it off since September, how important can it really be?

A True Friend

In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day one fellow met the great philosopher and said,
"Do you know what I just heard about your friend?".
"Hold on a minute," Socrates replied. "Before telling me anything I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test.".
"Triple filter?".
"That's right," Socrates continued. "Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to say. That's why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"
"No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and...".
"All right," said Socrates. "So you don't know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?" .
"No, on the contrary...".
"So," Socrates continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him, but you're not certain it's true. You may still pass the test though, because there's one filter left: the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?"
"No, not really."
"Well," concluded Socrates, "if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?"

Bottomline: Well we can always participate in loose talks to curb our boredom. But when it comes to your friends its not worth it. Always avoid talking behind the back about your near and dear friends.

Beauty of LOVE

A man and his girlfriend were married. It was a large celebration. All of their friends and family came to see the lovely ceremony and to partake of the festivities and celebrations. A wonderful time was had by all. The bride was gorgeous in her white wedding gown and the groom was very dashing in his black tuxedo. Everyone could tell that the love they had for each other was true.

A few months later, the wife comes to the husband with a proposal: "I read in a magazine, a while ago, about how we can strengthen our marriage." she offered. "Each of us will write a list of the things that we find a bit annoying with the other person. Then, we can talk about how we can fix them together and make our lives happier together." The husband agreed, so each of them went to a separate room in the house and thought of the things that annoyed them about the other. They thought about this question for the rest of the day and wrote down what they came up with.

The next morning, at the breakfast table, they decided that they would go over their lists. "I'll start," offered the wife. She took out her list. It had many items on it enough to fill 3 pages, in fact. As she started reading the list of the little annoyances, she noticed that tears were starting to appear in her husbands eyes.
"What's wrong?" she asked. "Nothing" the husband replied, "keep reading your lists." The wife continued to read until she had read all three pages to her husband. She neatly placed her list on the table and folded her hands over top of it.

"Now, you read your list and then we'll talk about the things on both of our lists." She said happily. Quietly the husband stated, "I don't have anything on my list. I think that you are perfect the way that you are. I don't want you to change anything for me. You are lovely and wonderful and I wouldn't want to try and change anything about you."

The wife, touched by his honesty and the depth of his love for her and his acceptance of her, turned her head and wept.

In life, there are enough times when we are disappointed, depressed and annoyed. We don't really have to go looking for them. We have a wonderful world that is full of beauty, light and promise.

Puzzle - 57

Back with a Puzzle after a long break... Try solving this...

In a Veterinary Clinic waiting lounge there were 7 visitors waiting for vaccination with 7 bags each with 7 mother cats and its kittens in each bag. Each mother Cats had 7 kitty (Young Cat) as well. Now, how many legs are there in that waiting lounge?

Since there was no attempt made, I am posting the answer here.

7 visitors x 2 legs = 14 legs
No. of Cats in 1 Bag
7 cat with 7 kitty each = 8 x 7 = 56
No. of Cats in 7 Bag with 1 Visitors = 00056 x 07 = 00392
No. of Cats in 7 Bag with 7 visitors = 00392 x 07 = 02744
Total No. Legs of Cats in all bags = 02744 x 04 = 10976
Total No. Legs of Cats and Visitors = 10976 + 14 = 10990

Heart Attacks & Hot Water Drinking

This is a very good article. Not only about the hot water after your meal, but about heart attacks . The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals, not cold water, maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating.

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or hot water/tea after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks - You should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.
You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive.

Never Be Afraid...

No Matter what....

Good old days..

When writing pads were more popular than cricket bats to play cricket

When we always had friends to play Thirudan police anytime

When we desperately waited for 'summer vacation'

When Chandamama, Gokulam and tinkle digest were so fulfilling

When there was just one channel our own doordarshan and we had to see whatever they telecasted

When Raja and Rancho and Super hit muqabala were very popular

When we were going to bed by 9.00pm sharp except for the 'vacation starting' day

When Diwali meant mostly hand-made sweets and food 'n moms seeking our help while preparing them

When Maths teachers were not worried of our parents while slapping/beating us..

When we were exchanging comics, stamps and Trump cards

When He-man and Giant Robot were our heroes

When we were in our native place every summer and loved flying kites and plucking and eating unripe mangoes and leechis

When one movie every Sunday evening on television was more than asked for and we even used to se other national movie telecasted at noon with English subtitles

When 2 rupees meant at least 10 toffees

When left over pages of the last year notebooks were used for rough work or even fair work

When 'camelin' and 'natraaj' were encouraged against 'reynolds and family'

When the first rain meant getting drenched and playing in water and mud

When there were no phones to tell friends that we will be at their homes at six in the evening

When we were not seeing crackers on Diwali as air and noise polluting or allergic agents

…...The list can be endless…..

On the serious note would like to summarise with

When we were using our hearts more than our brains, even for scientifically brainy activities like 'thinking' and 'deciding'

When we were crying and laughing more often, more openly and more sincerely

When we were enjoying our present more than worrying about our future

When being emotional was not synonymous to being weak

When sharing worries and happiness didn’t mean getting vulnerable to the listener

When blacks and whites were the favourite colors instead of greys

When journeys also were important and not just the destinations

When life was a passenger's sleeper giving enough time and opportunity to enjoy the sceneries from its open and transparent glass windows instead of some superfast's second ac with its curtained, closed and dark windows

Those days are always to be cherished!!!

Adi Festival

Tamil month of Adi has many special days linked to it. One of the very famous festival I remember first is the Mulaipaari Utsavam. This is done for the blessing of mankind with peace, prosperity and happiness. Nature worship in the form of Amman Deities are organized to shower Nature’s bountiful grace on human beings. First week of the month they tie kaappu in the village and grow the mulaipari in a dark place. Then after a week they take out and perform pooja by bringing to the village god's place as shown above in the picture. Once pooja is done they ask questions to village god like whether this year will there be good cultivation? and believed that if Yes, lizard will make sound from the surroundings. Then they bring back all those mulaipari to the mulai kottu thinnai and arrange everything in the order. Once it is placed, All females round it up and sing chorus (known as Thaanaanai) songs by praising the goddess with the clap of hands make slow rounds of the place where the plants in the bottom opened pots are kept. Then there will be performance by Karagam and Kavadi avattam groups on the same night.

Next day during afternoon there will be mavilakku pooja performed by people in the village to the God with Amma Odu (plant in the mud pot is called so). Then in the evening all the females in the family formed by two rows will carry down the Mulaipari to the Kanmaai(Lake) and do thaanaanai again as shown in the picture above. Then put the plant into the water pit at the kanmaai or river.

It is believed that the 'Surya Bhagawan' (the Sun God), changes the direction of his chariot from north to south, so this changeover is celebrated as a festival. This falls sometime between July 15th and August 15th, the beginning of the fourth month Aadi of the Tamil calendar. The house is adorned with fresh mango leaves and kolam. Milk extracted from coconuts is considered special in these days.

This festival is celebrated for the birth of the Tamil month of aadi. A lot of festivals are celebrated in the month of aadi. This is the beginning of all the festivals during the festival season. Once aadi festival starts all other festivals follow one by one. During the month of thai and aadi the sun changes directions so it is celebrated in that way.

Aadi festival is special for various ammans. It is celebrated in a special way in temples like mangadu, kamakshi temple etc. All sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays of this month are auspicious.

Every Friday is celebrated as "Aadi Velli". On the first Friday we make kozhukkattai for Lord Ganesha. We make coconut milk payasam on fridays.

The new moon day of this month is celebrated as "Aadi Amavasai" which is to remeber our ancestors who have reached God. That day donations will be made.

The pooram star of this month is celebrated as "aadi pooram" as the birthday of Aandal. It is celebrated in all temples in a grand manner.

The 18th day of this month is celebrated as "Aadi perukku" or "Pathinettam perukku". Since rain flows in this month, the rivers are filled with water. Water is also given from dams to agriculturists. On this day, we prepare all varieties of rice and vadams etc. taking all to nearby river or beach with friends and give them manjal kunkum, vetrilai pakku, clothes etc This done to praise Goddeess Cauveri (Cauvery river).

ADI VELLI & VARALAKSHMI VRATAM

LORD SHIVA describes the glory of this Vrata in the Skanda Purana. It is performed by a woman whose husband is still living. Maha Lakshmi is the abode of all auspiciousness and prosperity. This worship of Maha Lakshmi is done to obtain good progeny, and for the health and long life of the husband.

The Vrata is observed on the Friday immediately preceding the full moon day of the month of Sravan (August-September). After a purificatory bath, the lady should put on a clean, fresh cloth and make a mandala with the drawing of a lotus upon it. A kalasha filled with rice and topped with fresh mango leaves, a coconut and cloth are placed on the mandala and Lakshmi is invoked therein. Fresh grains are used in the worship as they convey the idea of growth and prosperity.

After the worship of the kalasha, follows the worship of Ganesha, then the worship of the raksha or the sacred thread. Now the main worship of Vara Lakshmi begins and the raksha is worshipped a second time. It is then tied to the right hand of the lady. After the worship various auspicious articles are given as charity to some deserving lady whose husband is alive. This lady is also fed with dainties.

Lakshmi not only bestows wealth and all sorts of material prosperity, but also imparts divine wisdom to all Her devotees. She is Vidya Shakti. She introduces Her devotees to Her Lord. She recommends them to Her Lord for their salvation.

Aadi festival is celebrated for the birth of the tamil month of Aadi (July - August) This festival is special for various Ammans.

Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays of this month are considered very auspicious. A lot of festivals are celebrated in the month of Aadi. This tamil month marks the beginning of all festivals during the festival season.

All Fridays in the month of Aadi are cosidered auspicious, especially 1st and 3rd Fridays.
