Puzzle - 43

There were group of people touring around the Gulf region by a Yacht. All of sudden they found that one of his friend was missing and fell off from yacht in to deep water. That person doesn't know swimming and not wearing any life jacket to make him float. Few hours later they managed to find him and brought him back alive to yacht. How is this possible?

Answer is a strange fact. The Region that they were traveling was Dead Sea, which lies in between Israel and Jordan. This sea water is very famous for its salty content and dense that anyone in it floats very easily.

Scars of The Anger

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence.

The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said "you have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one."

You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there.

Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret later.

Puzzle - 42

There was a clever pet shop owner sold a parrot to a customer who visited his shop by making a statement that "I guarantee you that this colorful parrot can repeat all the words whatever it hears." Finally customer found out the fact that it didn't utter even a single word. Though, what the pet shop owner said was true. So, can you tell why?

Global Warming - Play your part

I always wanted to write something about this issue. This morning when I read an article titled 'Malaysian hill resorts turning into hot spots', I decided to certainly write something about it. As you know that I have posted a short note about my trip to Cameron Highland during Chinese New Year Holidays. I also mentioned that in that trip I got the feel of being very close to the nature. Chances like that seem to be fading away with the increasing forest devastation for building resorts and to do farming. People living up in the hill mentioned that during the olden days they can't come out of House without wearing a thick sweater, nowadays just a thin shirt even without sleeves will do. Environmentalists mentioned that the highest temperature measured in Cameron Highland was only 24.6 deg Celsius in 1984. Apparently due to the above mentioned factors it was measured 27.9 deg Celsius in 1998. This way it will go up till many degrees higher unless and until something is done.

Unusual flooding and cyclones were caused day-by-day in many parts of the world is an alarming indications to do something about the Global Warming. In recent the years it Global temperature measures have been showing unexpected increase. Check out the Global Temperature chart in the past years. Models referenced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predict that global temperatures are likely to increase by 1.1° to 6.4 °C (2.0° to 11.5 °F) between 1990 and 2100.

I have noticed that Virgin chief Richard Branson as an individual has been actively playing big part for years in terms of doing something for controlling the climate change. Recently some of you might have come across the article Fix climate change, win US$25 million. It is an encouraging fact that some of the private organizations are doing their part to do something about the Global Warming.

In fact we ourselves can play a part by implementing some of the innovative ideas suggested by a Student on the topic Top 50 Ideas. I'm sure at least by implementing some of this points we can definitely make lots of differences. My humble request to all my friends those who read this article is to make a commitment ourselves in future to do little things mentioned as above to bring in change from polluted environment to green environment. Those of you who has any better ideas please leave it here...

I happened to listen to a conversation with NASA's top Climate scientist James E. Hansen, in which he raised his concern about the increasing threat of global warming. Please click here to listen to it.

This really attracted me a lot, which explains the basics about Global Warming

Look into the Eyes

It was a bitter, cold evening in northern Virginia many years ago. The old man's beard was glazed by winter's frost while he waited for a ride across the river. The wait seemed endless. His body became numb and stiff from the frigid north wind.

He heard the faint, steady rhythm of approaching hooves galloping along the frozen path. Anxiously, he watched as several horsemen rounded the bend. He let the first one pass by without an effort to get his attention. Then another passed by, and another. Finally, the last rider neared the spot where the old man sat like a snow statue. As this one drew near, the old man caught the rider's eye and said, "Sir, would you mind giving an old man a ride to the other side? There doesn't appear to be a passageway by foot."

Reining his horse, the rider replied, "Sure thing. Hop aboard." Seeing the old man was unable to lift his half-frozen body from the ground, the horseman dismounted and helped the old man onto the horse. The horseman took the old man not just across the river, but to his destination, which was just a few miles away.

As they neared the tiny but cozy cottage, the horseman's curiosity caused him to inquire, "Sir, I notice that you let several other riders pass by without making an effort to secure a ride. Then I came up and you immediately asked me for a ride. I'm curious why, on such a bitter winter night, you would wait and ask the last rider. What if I had refused and left you there?"

The old man lowered himself slowly down from the horse, looked the rider straight in the eyes, and replied, "I've been around these here parts for some time. I reckon I know people pretty good." The old-timer continued, "I looked into the eyes of the other riders and immediately saw there was no concern for my situation. It would have been useless even to ask them for a ride. But when I looked into your eyes, kindness and compassion were evident. I knew, then and there, that your gentle spirit would welcome the opportunity to give me assistance in my time of need."

Those heartwarming comments touched the horseman deeply.

"I'm most grateful for what you have said," he told the old man. "May I never get too busy in my own affairs that I fail to respond to the needs of others with kindness and compassion."

With that, Thomas Jefferson turned his horse around and made his way back to the White House.

So, do you know who Mr. Thomas Jefferson is? He was the third President of the United States (1801-1809). Even then he had the heart to help those who were in need. This is the attitude every one of us must develop. Our Eyes must shine with the kindness and compassion as it did in Mr. Thomas Jefferson. Don't you think so?

Puzzle - 41

A man steps into his bathroom and triggered a real bullet with a original gun exactly in his forehead right above the point between the eyes. Still he came out alive without a single drop of blood from his forehead. He is neither a superman nor a magician or any other caped crusader. How was this possible?

The Obstacle in our Path

In ancient times, a king had a boulder placed on a mountainside walk pathway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear as already walking on a small mountain path is very difficult, but none did anything about getting the big stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. On approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. As the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the pathway. The peasant learned what many others never understand.

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve one's condition.

All about Strawberry

Since I had been touring around Strawberry farms in Cameron Highland I wanted to post some facts about Strawberry, Here it comes to your eyes for readings...
  • Strawberries were cultivated by the Romans as early as 200 BC

  • The first sketch of a strawberry plant was printed in 1484

  • The ancient Romans believed that strawberries alleviated symptoms of melancholy, fainting, all inflammations, fevers, throat infections, kidney stones, bad breath, attacks of gout, and diseases of the blood, liver and spleen

  • To symbolize perfection and righteousness, medieval stone masons carved strawberry designs on altars and around the tops of pillars in churches and cathedrals

  • In medieval times, strawberries were served at important functions to bring peace & prosperity

  • Strawberries are the only fruit with seeds on the outside

Smart sadhu chasen out by outsmart Tenali

The villagers were delighted. A sadhu(saint) who performed miracles, had come to their village. Every morning and evening they would gather at the temple with specially prepared delicacies as offerings to the sadhu.

When Tenali Raman heard of this, he smelt a rat. He went to the temple and sat near the holy man. The sadhu began reciting shlokas. To Raman’s surprise, he went on repeating the same shloka over and over again.

Tenali realised that he was a fraud. Suddenly, he leaned forward and plucked a strand of hair from the sadhu’s beard.

“I have the key to Heaven!” he shouted triumphantly. The villagers looked startled.

“This sadhu is so great that if I keep the hair from his beard with me, I will be blessed forever!” said Tenali .

Trip to Cameron Highland

Alamak, I again escaped for few days during the Chinese New Year Holidays without updating my blog. Sorry about that. As mentioned in the Title, I visited a chilling place in Malaysia called Cameron Highland. When we went in for a Jungle walk, it made me feel like I am being very close to the nature. It was more thrilling to walk thru some of the challenging slippery trekking path to reach the desired destinations. First I had no plans to go there as when I called initially all the Hotels were full. Later on Saturday I made up my mind to just get there first and check the rest and it worked out. Everything went on smooth especially our worry about getting transport and accommodation.

There are many vegetable forms located in various parts of the Highland. They cultivate many fresh vegetables like Cabbage, Radish, Lettuce, Green Leaves, Corn and some fruits like Strawberry and Cameron Apple (tastes more like small size Honeydew mixed with apple). We could understand how they grow all these when we went into those farms. There are some other plants also grown in the jungle the popular one is Pitcher Plant and Rafflesasia (biggest flower in the Asia region). They also have the popular tea estates mainly two big companies Boh & Barath Tea Estates.

We have also visited a Cactus Valley. As a tourism attraction they have varieties of Cactus available for sale as well.

This us a must watch place for every single person who would like to enjoy the beauty of nature mother. I was just thinking students those are studying agriculture or botany as their main subject may be can go to this place to get the real feel of cultivation.

Ok, time to back to blogging again. I will try my level best again to keep you occupied with my usual puzzles, stories and many more interesting topics.

I found through my statsistics that somebody is looking forward to get the details about the places of interest. Here are the few interesting places to go around in Cameron Highland...
  1. Robinson Waterfalls

  2. Strawberry & Vegetable Farms

  3. Mozzy Forest

  4. Boh Tea Estate

  5. Cameron Valley

  6. Orang Asli Kampong

And Here is the Route Map for those who are interested to go for Hiking, based on my experience. There are some dangerous slippery paths, which might make you fall into the deep canyon. So, please be careful when you take any of these jungle routes and walk as group.

Pills to reduce The Weight or Life?

I was listening to an FM Channel from Malaysia this morning. In the news section they have told that a lady in Alor Star at the age of 32 passed away after she was hospitalized with the reason of Kidney problem. Later it was found out that she was taking some weight reducing pills that was banned by Malaysian Government for the past few months and it affected her this way by even taking her life. I feel sad for her as her ignorance was one of the reason to take her own life away in this manner.

In this modern world, everybody is thinking that reducing weight is not a problem at all. Just take some weight reducing pills and can see the results in few months. I would say the society is really spoiled by such pills. We all have to think that how dangerous this kind of side of effects could be?

There are so many natural ways to reduce your weight, follow strict diet (doesn't mean that you should go fasting). Choose the right food combination, do bit of exercise at least an alternative day. You could do Asanas everyday early in the morning. During weekends try to go for some sports activity, even dancing is a good exercise for that matter & Avoid munching snacks all the times. These are the natural ways to get rid off our increasing fat content in the body. Just because pills gives great comfort of not having to do all these it attracts us, at the same time please don't the fact that there is always some side effects.

Right from the beginning I had no belief in this kind of pills method to reduce. As I mentioned it’s in your hand to either just follow the natural way or take pills and may be you reduce your life instead of the weight. Worst come worst at least check with your doctor before you take any such pills.

Do You have Brain?

Don't be surprised with this question, I'm not asking you this question. It is not at all uncommon in our day to meet people who insist that no intelligent person can accept what is not in complete agreement with human reason or what lies outside the realm of human experience. Which reminds us of how an aged Quaker once confronted another old rationalist.

This rationalist man declared: ";I will not believe in the existence of what has never been seen; we are creatures of reason you know."

"Have you ever seen France?" queried the Quaker.. "No, sir, but others have, and so my reason allows me to believe in its existence upon their testimony. "Ah, you will believe only in what you or another has seen."

"That's it, you have my idea exactly."

"Have you ever seen your brains?"

"No, sir."

"Have you ever met anyone who has seen them?"

"No sir."

"Do you believe you have any?"

So, in our life faith is more important than anything else. Especially when it comes to GOD or A Capable MASTER, it should be a complete FAITH with full of devotion.

Valentine's Special

Once, there was this guy, who was in love with a gal. She wasn't the most beautiful and gorgeous but for him, she was everything.

He used to dream about her, about spending the rest of life with her. His friends told him, "why do you dream so much about her, when you don't even know if she loves you or not? First tell her your feelings, and get to know if she likes you or not".

He felt that was the right way. The girl knew from the beginning, that this guy loves her. One day when he proposed, she rejected him.

His friends thought he would take to alcohol; drugs etc. and ruin his life. To their surprise, he was not depressed.

When they asked him how was it that he is not sad, he replied, "'why should I feel bad? I lost one who never loved me & she lost the one who really loved and cared for her."

Puzzle - 38

There was a barrel without any sealing on top left outside a factory gate. It was filled with some water in it. Three friends were passing by that street. One of them guessed that the water is filled more than Half barrel and other said It is less than half barrel. The third one said that the water is filled exactly half Barrel.

If you were asked to determine who is correct without using any measuring equipment, How will you justify who is correct and why?

Answer:
Tilt the barrel until the water barely touches the lip of the barrel, If the bottom of the barrel is visible then it is less than half full. If the barrel bottom is still completly coverd by the water, then it is more than half full.

The price for LOVE

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising for 4 pups and set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of little boy.

"Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."

"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, "These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. "I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"

"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. "Here, Dolly!" he called. Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran

Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight.

As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse.. Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up....

"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would."

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe. Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands."

With tears in his eyes, farmer reached down and picked up the little pup. Holding it carefully handed it to the little boy.

"How much?" asked the little boy.

"No charge," answered the farmer, "There's no charge for love."

Now, Do you agree with me that there is no price for LOVE? With Love, You can win almost everything in this world. The secret of even winning God is only through Love. Love All and Live Well...

The Apple Basket

One day an elderly man entered into a hospital. He was grumpy from being on medication and the nurses thought him to be insane, as he yelled for his wife to get the apple basket. By the time they had checked him into his room the nurses were exhausted from the fight he was putting up.

"Sir you have to calm down we are doing everything we can for you" they would try to explain.

"I don't need your help" the grumpy man would yell "I want my apple basket". He finally slept. The nurses sighed with relief and talked among themselves whether they should call the hospital psychologist about the old man and his obsession with the apple basket.

As they talked and laughed about the situation the wife came in carrying the basket of apples. They looked kind of stunned as she asked if she could see her husband and deliver his basket. Sure, they agreed as they watched her slip past into his room.

Curiosity consumed them over the next few weeks as they tended to the elderly man. He was eaten with cancer and the doctors had given him no hope of survival. He turned out to be a very calm, happy man once he had his basket. His wife, they noticed, would come in with apples and go out with apples and the curiosity grew even more till one nurse couldn't stand the suspense.

One night as he was nearing the end, the nurse sat down in a chair by the wife." May I ask why do you have that apple basket? I just don't understand the significance."

"I am an apple farmer by trade he sighed. From the time I was 20 till the day I do die I will forever have my apples." The nurse nodded thinking she understood. He just likes his work, she thought, assured now he was a little bit crazy.

As she started to leave, the old man asked her to sit down. "At age 20 I was saved, I accepted the God as my Savior." Oh no, the nurse thought. Here comes the lecture on religion. The old man continued. "The day I accepted the God as my Savior I got this basket, and each time I had a problem or concern that I could not handle, I put an apple in the basket un-shined."

"Why?" the nurse said shaking her head.

"Because it reminded me to give those problems to the Lord for him to shine. See my basket now, he stated. As my problems disappear so do the apples. As I get new problems, ones I cannot handle alone, I put an apple in."

The humble nurse looked into the basket... only one apple was there.

With that, he took a big breath and grabbed his wife by the hand and faded into eternal sleep. The wife paused for a moment and got up from her place to take from the basket the last remaining apple. She whispered in his ear that his reward awaits him in heaven.

The nurse stayed still and asked with tears in her eyes, "what do you think his riches will be?"

The wife knew what they were, eternal life with God. But she could see the concern and sadness upon the young nurses' face and handed her the apple and said "the biggest apple pie you can imagine!"

That was the day the young nurse was "saved," and from that day on she too always had a basket of apples by her bed.

Yes, Even we all should have one such Apple Basket and then slowly we learn to handle the problems on our own and make the Basket empty.

The Three Trees

Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods, They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said "Someday I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems. I could be decorated with intricate carving and everyone would see the beauty." Then the second tree said, "Someday I will be a mighty ship. I will take 20 kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull." Finally the third tree said, "I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on top of the hill and look up to my branches, and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I am reaching. I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me."

After a few years of praying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. When one came to the first tree he said, "his looks like a strong tree, I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter," and he began cutting it down. The tree was happy, because he knew that the carpenter would make him into a treasure chest. At the second tree the woodsman said, "This looks like a strong tree I should be able to sell it to the shipyard." The second tree was happy because he knew he was on his way to becoming a mighty ship.

When the woodsmen came upon the third tree, the tree was frightened because he knew that if they cut him down his dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, "I don't need anything special from my tree, so I'll take this one", and he cut it down. When the first tree arrived at the carpenters, he was made into a feed box for animals. He was then placed in a barn and filled with hay. This was not at all what he had prayed for. The second tree was cut and made into a small fishing boat. His dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had come to an end. The third tree was cut into large pieces and left alone in the dark.

The years went by, and the trees forgot about their dreams. Then one day, a man and woman came to the barn. She gave birth and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree. The man wished that he could have made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree could feel the importance of this event and knew that it had held the greatest treasure of all time.

Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep. While they were out on the water, a great storm arose and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke the sleeping man, and He stood and said "Peace" and the storm stopped. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat.

Finally, someone came and got the third tree. It was carried through the streets as the people mocked the man who was carrying it. When they came to a stop, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill. When Sunday came, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible, because Jesus had been crucified on it.

The moral of this story is that when things don't seem to be going your way, always know that God has a plan for you. If you place your trust in Him, He will give you great gifts. Each of the trees got what they wanted, just not in the way they had imagined. We don't always know what God's plans are for us. We just know that His ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best.
