ATM Card Robbery? Reverse your PIN

There has been lots of cases recorded in Bangalore recently that the robbers catch the IT professional those who return home late. For what? beat them and pluck the ATM Card and ask them for PIN as well if they don't give smack them badly too.

In a situation like this here is a chance for you to make a secret complaint to police and not sure how easy it is to catch the thief. If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321(I always wondered what if i have a non-reversable PIN like 1221, better change the PIN to reversable). The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to The robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

I just learnt from the news paper today (05th June 2008) that the intensive scrutinizing done by them with sevaral banks told told this is a myth. So, the only security you have is to catch the robber through the ATM Security Camera to get the identification. It was not informed to their customers by the respective banks because there is no such security measure is in place.

Please pass this along to everyone possible and make them aware that this is just a hoax.
